Dr. Scott, we learned the following truths taught over the course of many years. On a recent Festival of Faith ... playing on the University Network, Dr. Scott spoke on Ephesian 4:11 - GOD gave to His Church, some the Apostles - called by GOD; sent by GOD for a special purpose (or purposes). And HE gave some the Prophets - who, like a volcano - overflow with a Truth from GOD's Word. Two characteristics about the Prophetic gift: 1. It never contradicts GOD's Word; and, 2. It will come to pass - you don't need to "make it happen"...
GOD gave some the Evangelists - proclaimers of the Evangel - the GOOD NEWS of Jesus Christ our Deliverer... risen from the dead. The Prophet and the Evangelist are usually "single message" ministers. NOT much "shepherding" needed. NO having to "thump" on the heads of the sheep - well, maybe on rare occasion. NO "shaping" an individual growing in Christ. They are NOT Pastors. They are Prophets and Evangelists. Finally, GOD gave some the Pastors-Teachers - Teaching-pastors or Pastoring-teachers. Whomever "teaches" you will probably be your Pastor; Whomever "pastors" you will be your Teacher. This last Office of the Church is the one primarily recognized for the purpose of "building up of the Body of Christ" until we all come to the fullness of the measure of the His Stature. Prophets and Evangelists often come and go. But the Pastoring-Teachers will be there watching for the souls of those who follow. And like JESUS - these Ministers will need to learn and lead by example as they lead their congregations through a world of serious tribulation. We read of JESUS, "... while being reviled, HE uttered no threats, but kept entrusting Himself to HIM Who judges rightly." So also the Pastoring-teachers (at least the ones called by GOD, sent by GOD, and fitted for the Office by GOD), the real Pastoring-Teachers will be willing to die for the Church that GOD is building especially when the wolves come around. The Apostle - a rare individual, along the lines of a Paul, an Augustine, or a Luther... is usually a great leader in competition for the current title: "I am... Chiefest of Sinners"... or "I am... Carnal"... (or like Isaiah) "I am... Undone". This is not a past and finished accolade awarded to the delusional self-righteous for personal achievement - those whose God is way too small... preaching to the "I was a sinner, but now I'm not" crowd. Rather, the true Apostle - is a real man of God, not a fictious sinner with a fictious Savior, grappling with an ever-present reality. The "chiefest sinner" willingly stands alone against the world to declare, "we have a Real Savior". Apostles probably demonstrate evidence of spiritual ability found in all the Offices gifted by GOD. These Gift ministers are not hirlings listening to some itchy-eared congregants. Rather, they are on a mission and often anguish over their assignment as they build up the Body of Christ. Thankfully, GOD did not abandoned the 21st Century. HE remembered our need, and sent us a Gifted Man in these last days. For many years ... we had the profound joy to learn from a true Minister sent by GOD. What a gift Dr. Scott was! Each Sunday message, each Festival of Faith... each individual encounter was a stunning opportunity to learn and grow. In gratitude for the GIFT GOD gave us, we created this University Network Frequency Guide for the internet as a helpful "KEY" for any knowledgeable person to use who "accidentally" stumbles onto our website. Forget the talk shows, the TV, and music stations! Our SHORTWAVE radio continuously plays Dr. Gene Scott and the University Network around the clock. Every day for years, our home has been filled with gracious Words of hope - as taught by Dr. Gene Scott - our Pastor and Teacher... sent by GOD.
Through the years, we've encountered a number of on-lookers, who never attended the Los Angeles University Cathedral to hear Dr. Scott preach. Certainly a lot of people have listened to him through the years. And some have even wondered why we always attend. But it didn't take long to discern that many of those individuals usually had more packed in their little brown lunch bags than what was sandwiched between their ears. Those folk probably attend services where they think it's necessary to check their brains with their rain-coats at the foyer of the sanctuary - which sorta makes sense and is forgiveable if you attend a place where the teacher doesn't actually teach anything!
Unfortunately, (for whatever excuse) many people chose not to credit Dr. Scott as the teacher who weekly labored to dust off and dig out GOD's Truths that had been neglected and buried under centuries of legalistic tradition still making void the Word of GOD today. Luke in his Gospel - 11:52 writes:
(2) Ye entered not yourselves; and, (3) them that were entering in ye hindered. Occasionally through the years, we heard of an acclaimed church leader willing to quote Dr. Scott's teaching, yet never attribute the inspired instruction to him... inspite of the declaration that GOD gave some Pastoring-teachers to The Church. This is sobering especially when you consider how the world views that kind of dishonest activity. Anybody (adult or child) applying for entrance at a University of California Campus found plagiarizing on their application, is permanently disqualified from attending any of the 10 UC Campuses. We can only imagine a self-righteous legalist found plagiarizing would say, “Well, that’s the way of the world! We’re the church; we’re not the world!” Why people, who are supposedly in church leadership, closet-listen to Dr. Scott, yet hinder others from hearing him is beyond us. Do these Not-Real-Bright people really believe GOD exists? What excuse do you think they'll offer GOD in case the ANCIENT of DAYS is a little more brutal than some senile, old, gullible, Lite-weight of a Push-over in Eternity?! We don't know and can't imagine, and don't even wanna venture down that road. But we're pretty confident the ANCIENT OF DAYS has heard just about every excuse imaginable... and HE's ready. In the past, we've heard some incredibly goofy folks on one of the churchianiTy-V stations, acknowledge that their family listened to "a very fine teacher in the Southern California area." Do you suppose that "very fine teacher in the Southern California area" had a name? That kind of attitude is childish if you're a child. IF you are not a child, it's evil. Making similarly conscionable remarks would be pretty much like saying, "There once was this very scholarly gentleman, an excellent Teacher over in the Palestine area who said, 'Come unto Me and I will give you rest.' Our kids listen to him all the time. We like him, a lot." What do you think? Those who prefer plagiarism and avoid giving credit where credit is due obviously conclude Luke was really talking to somebody else. Yet, Luke's indictment was directly to those [religious folk of his day] who had the key, entered not in; and, then spent their lives hindering others from finding the Door, turning the knob and going through. How terrible it will be for them. They epitomize not only Luke's "lovers of the law" (even though the LAW died in Christ), but also the Corinthian congregation... that died. The Apostle Paul, in II Corinthians 12:11... concludes his letter to a vacillating group of grunting grumblers who perferred the entertainment of a few familiar "super spirituals", over being well taught line-upon-line by the Apostle. In verse 11, Paul finally confesses he, "... played the fool. [They] made him do it". Pathetically, the Corinthian congragrunts refused to defend their Pastor... so he had to "act the fool" as he made his defense of the faith at Corinth. From the opening chapters of II Corinthians to its close, it is apparent that that thankless crowd was more like a herd of pigs - but stingy, resenting Paul's priceless gems on giving all the while preferring and expecting others like the poor Macedonians to financially support as they sat at ease in their dust-collecting comfort and gorged on his costly teaching - (read the commentaries). Obviously, GOD finally took care of them with one big flush out of existence! How tragic! Too often... Dr. Scott willingly "played the fool". Thankfully, when he did he was right more often than any teacher we've heard through the years. Many times Dr. Scott's life reminded us of something similar we heard from close friends who knew A.W. Tozer. We will never forget learning that that incredible Christian - A.W. Tozer - lamented at the end of his life that he had "preached [himself] off every Bible College Campus in America. They no longer wanted to hear [his] message." How tragic! Dr. Scott read more books than anybody we know. And he got us reading more books than we ever would have imagined. Which is interesting, because his teaching (because of its clarity and fascinating content) is better than pulling any of those good ol' books off the shelf nowdays. Boy, do we love modern technology!! And we are grateful to GOD that Dr. Scott's teaching continues to blast out around the world on the University Network - 24 Hours a day. Of course, that is possible, thanks to the commitment and loving concern of Mrs. Scott. Through her leadership, our uncommon congregation will continue to lift up our Banner of Faith as she now leads the way - "washing this old Globe with the Water of GOD's Word... until HE comes whose right it is to reign as KING of Kings and LORD of Lords!" Thank you, Mrs. Scott! One Final Word We recognized that Dr. Scott was not loved by everybody - even though that notion, that concept, that opinion, that perception, that point of view... to us seems: incredulous. But do you think we care? *&$#@*%! NO! Everybody still has the right to be wrong. JESUS Christ had one or two judgmental critics...
JESUS had His excrement-peddlin' critics who didn't care much about HIM. He was despised - spied on and hated - and trashed all the time. Watched and criticized every day. What about JESUS wasn't there to like? And though He spoke authoritatively and quite unapologetically, He musta been a pretty decent kind of guy. We even read, "all the normal folk gladly loved to hear Him". Now... today, we realize and are a little surprised, though doesn't take an Einstein to understand that Mrs. Scott has inherited one or two people who don't care much about her. Aw! But we're not too shocked! We want it perfectly clear. For anybody who may have any doubts, we want all those doubts removed. As a line drawn in the sand that forces us to choose this day... we already did - a long... long time ago. We want it understood by anybody who doesn't have the capacity to discern, and would need to ask.... We want you to save your breath. We are announcing to you and everybody else... that we will (even using the language of traitorous Judas' in his dumb-ass-essment of what was waste and what wasn't... to mock those with his same critical, self-serving mind-set...) we will do likewise as that woman did in the past in demonstration of our support for our Pastor - Mrs. Melissa Scott with our tithes and offerings of time, talent and treasure... until the day JESUS comes! Got it?!
As a public personality, Mrs. Scott has to deal somewhat differently with issues of defamation, libel and slander than do private citizens. As private citizens, all the rest of us attending and supporting Mrs. Scott have the similar privileges to address in a court of law - any legal issue of defamation, libel or slander - including, but not limited to cases involving slander on the internet - thereby infringing on our rights - as private citizens. We will gladly exercise our civil rights should the need arise. We concur with Paul and JESUS CHRIST Himself - they were both... fairly knowledgeable... and regularly dealt with mutton-heads who had nothing better to do than to daily sit around on their finest thrift-store furnishings and pronounce second-hand judgments on others - particularly on those whom Christ died for. How terrible it will be for those critics when they ultimately and completely are dealt with by GOD Himself as they choke on their own excuses while their folding-chair reality collapses before HIS throne. Folks, don't worry about any folding-chair fools! They'll crumple faster than we (or GOD) can say, "Go to Hell". Because when HE says something... (faster than you can snap your finger, or blink your eye)... it is so! For the rest of us, let's get on with running the race that is before us... as fast and furious and as far as our feet and minds and hearts can travel... with the Good News of our Savior - JESUS Christ our Lord. What's new? What's different? Nothing. Ours is still a daily walk of FAITH tried in the fire. It's:
Belief in GOD's Word, sustained by the Confidence we have learned from our GOD Who can be trusted, isn't it? And that will be our road map... until we all get safely home. We've all been taught well, haven't we?! So, let's get on with our "A,B,C's"... starting with supporting and encouraging our Pastor and teacher - Mrs. Scott... by getting our butts back on the battlefield - the one we've all sung about.... That was never the case with Dr. Scott. He always taught; we always learned. In one sense, it's sad to admit: Dr. Scott said more in a passing moment than most teachers (and, come to think of it... even the most august professors who led our post-Graduate Masters classes, for that matter) say in a life time. On the other hand, we thank GOD that HE gave us such a gifted Teacher - unwilling to save the world by sun down; able to equip us with truths to ponder and handles of faith to grab on to while we work through the next chapters in our lives.
Mrs. Scott's friends are our friends. Her enemies are our enemies! It's a package deal! And she's stuck with us - until the joy arrives and victory is ours!
